Natural Deodorant with pure essential oils to keep your armpits fresh and sweet smelling …
There are thousands of deodorant recipes on the internet! Basically you have to decide what is best for you. With regards to ingredients and convenience etc.
You can just use Coconut Oil and Essential Oil. Some people just use coconut oil and baking soda, some people just use essential oils, some people are allergic to baking soda – so it all depends on what suits you.
I’ve got sensitive skin and I like using essential oils. I’ve minimised the Baking Soda component , not over done the Essential Oils component and then added in some added benefits of moisturising and also a stabilising ingredient.
You need to play around and try and see what works for you.
All of these ingredients that I have used spin hoops around commercially made deodorants which are filled with nasty chemical ingredients.
These are the ingredients in one popular deodorant
Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex GLY
Cyclopentasiloxane Stearyl Alcohol C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate PPG-14 Butyl Ether Hydrogenated Castor Oil Fragrance (Parfum) Dimethicone Polyethylene Steareth-100 Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil and BHT
I’m sure I don’t need to list each ingredients effects on the body. They are chemicals pumped into spray can that goes on your armpits which are absorbed directly into your body #nothankyou !
I posted this on my Facebook Page a few days ago . After making my Homemade Foamy Hand Wash Soap on the weekend HERE
I then started to make some other things Deodorant being one of them.
I’ve been waiting to do this post to see how the deodarant stacked up with use during the day , sensitivity and also with clothing.
I am very happy to announce that not only did it keep my pits smelling lovely all day , there was no marking on my clothes and also no irritation at all.
So without further ado here is the formula 😉
Keep in mind that there is no point in making your own deodorant if you use products with preservatives in so make sure your products are the best quality preferably organic , cold pressed and NO preservatives.
{ { The Arrowroot one pictured here is not preservative free and has preservative 220 in it – I used in this recipe as I didn’t have any other Arrowroot Powder on hand and I wanted to see if this recipe worked first 😉 }}

Place 75 g of Organic Cold Pressed Coconut oil a good quality one I use Loving Earths. Along with 15 g of Shea Butter again a good quality one.
Melt these two together in your glass bowl over a pot of boiling water.
Take the bowl off the heat and add 50g of Arrowroot Powder you need to make sure this is the organic one with no preservative
Then add 15g of baking soda preferably aluminium free.
Next add 2 Vitamin E capsules – I just stick a hole in with a skewer and squeeze. You can also buy this is a bulk quantity from somewhere like Aussie Soap Supplies use about a teaspoon.
Whisk all of these together and then add in your Essential Oils Drops. Use a good quality Essential oil. Not all essential Oils are created equal ! If you want to know more about Essential Oils and which ones I use and recommend you can contact me below
For my personal deodorant that I made in this photo I used 6 drops of Patchouli and 4 of Melaleuca ( Tea Tree ) You can increase or decrease this dependant on your own needs and which oils you use. There are many combinations that you can use..
Then pour into your push up tubes or containers ( if you are using your fingers to apply ) I found these great wind up tubes through Aussie Soap Supplies HERE
