Vanilla Extract

Homemade Vanilla Extract

This is  a must have staple in your pantry. Don’t spend a fortune on little bottles full of additives from the shops make your own

You will need :

250mls vodka
3 or 4 Vanilla Bean Pods

I prefer to source my Vanilla Pod Beans from organic and sustainable companies

To make your own lush Vanilla Extract follow these steps

Slice Pods in half lengthways and put into desired bottle , fill with vodka and let it sit for a minimum of 4 weeks

The longer you leave it the better it is.

Check out the timeline of previous bottles and how they develop HERE

  1. Thanks for posting this! I found it a while ago and have finally got around to trying it out tonight!

One question, how long do the pods last? I.e. when I’ve finished the first 250ml, do I need to start again with new pods or can I just add more vodka?

    Thanks,
    Sharon.

You can reuse the pods a few times until the flavor starts to dissipate
